Computer Skills team expands CityLink’s vision and mission through supporting and delivering computer software training. Helping individual clients to enhance their computer and typing skills. Volunteers will support a learning environment that is engaging and interactive.


  1. Teach and demonstrate any of the following skills utilizing a provided lesson plan: Basic Computer Skills, Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, And Word. Computers A-Z instructed by Cincinnati Public Library
  2. Provide one-on-one assistance to clients who need additional coaching in computer skills
  3. Ensure computers and other equipment are maintained and properly cared for
  4. Motivate participants to practice course material between class meeting times, open lab hours
  5. Critique and evaluate CityLink’s current curriculum, all input and good input

Are you great with technology? Like teaching use of new technology to others? Have patience? Enjoy working with a diverse population? Branch Computer Assistants are essential in our branches to provide technology assistance to patrons who are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with using equipment and software. Typical work includes assisting patrons with Microsoft Office programs, internet searches, creating email accounts from free services, and navigation of the library’s online catalogue.

All volunteers must be approved by Volunteer Services prior to service. Our application and screening process includes: an online application, interview, reference check, and background check.

Title: Computer Lab Assistant Volunteer

Location: 1814 Dreman Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45223

Schedule: 2 Hours/Week

Assist unemployed or underemployed residents with limited computer skills to seek employment, job training and resources to help overcome employment barriers. Assist South Cumminsville residents with limited computer skills during weekly help sessions in WIN’s community computer lab. The Computer Lab Assistant will be onsite in WIN’s community computer lab for two hours each week to assist job-seeking residents with limited computer skills gain new skills to build a resume, write a cover letter, conduct an online job search, and complete online applications.

Volunteer Responsibilities include:

  • Safe start up, log-in and shut down of computers in WIN’s computer lab
  • Providing technical assistance to job seekers, especially those with limited computer skills
  • Helping jobseekers with proof-reading and editing resume and cover letters, if needed
  • Sharing information about job search tools and websites


Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of how to use email, online search engines, Microsoft Office, and other basic computer skills (e.g. setting up “professional” email accounts, creating email attachments, uploading documents, creating Word documents and PDFs, saving documents to flash drives, etc.)
  • Willingness to assist job-seekers to gain new skills that aid in their employment search in a patient, respectful and judgement-free manner
  • Maintain privacy and dignity of the people receiving assistance
  • Effectively communicate information about available job-search resources and information related to addressing employment barriers
  • Comfortable working in low-income neighborhoods with diverse populations
  • Able to pass a drug screen and background check

Title: American Red Cross Volunteer Intern

Location: 2111 Dana Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45207

Schedule: Flexible (10-15 Hours) Year Round

We are currently recruiting for interns to serve in the following areas: Communications, Volunteer Resources, Fund Development, International Services, Service to Armed Forces, Information Technology. Students and supervisors create customized Intern Agreements, stating hours to be worked and specific work assignments, assuring that both Red Cross program needs and student academic or other requirements are met.
