Q: What are the student requirements?
A: The requirements are: approved 1-page PDF resume, Github Training, approved LinkedIn profile, be a current Junior or Senior in High School
Q: I’m already proficient in Github, do I still have to participate?
A: You can have an adult familiar with your work(Teacher, Professor, Advisor, Counselor etc.) email firstname.lastname@example.org giving confirmation that you are proficient in Github/Git. This will supplant the Github training requirement for INTERnships.
Q: What does an approved LinkedIn profile look like?
A: In order to be considered for approval, a LinkedIn profile must:
- Have a profile with a meaningful “About Summary”
- Be connected with Heather Ackels
- Follow INTERalliance
- Add your experiences and projects (this is obviously subjective, but try to have at least one)
- Have no picture or a professional picture
- Have proper spelling and grammar
Q: Where do I go on my first day?

Q: What should I bring with me on my first day?
A: This information should be provided by the company of which you are interning, but at a minimum, you should bring a Photo ID and a method of taking notes. Q: Can I take a vacation?
A: Yes, though you should consider that the internship lasts only 10 weeks and your business partners are counting on you to be in the office for the majority of that time. Any time off should be communicated to both INTERalliance and your business partner before you start and must be approved by your business partner. Excessive requests will not be permitted.
Q: I have an appointment already scheduled? What do I do?
A: Yes you can go to your appointment, though you should consider that the internship lasts only 10 weeks and your business partners are counting on you to be in the office for the majority of that time. Q: Does INTERalliance have Direct Deposit?
A: Not at this time. All interns will have physical checks mailed to them.
Q: How will I receive my check?
A: Good old snail mail. Checks will be mailed to the home address that you entered on your paperwork.
Q: What if I want to change my address?
A: Email Central.Office@interalliance.org and someone will help you.
Q: When should I expect the check to arrive?
A: Checks are cut and mailed on the scheduled Friday and should arrive by the following Tuesday. See the payroll schedule for exact dates. If you do not see your check, please Central Office know asap.
Q: I didn’t get my paycheck! Why not?
A: A couple of possible reasons. Either you have not completed your tax paperwork, you didn’t work during the payment period, or you didn’t log your hours in Clockify. Contact Central.Office@interalliance.org for more information and resolution.
Q: I don’t understand why my check is for the amount that it is. Can you help me?
A: You were paid for your first week. If you have other concerns please direct them to Central.Office@interalliance.org
Q: Will the supervisor at the company where I’m interning be able to answer my payroll questions?
A: No. These questions should come to email@example.com
Q: When do I get paid again?
A: You will get paid according to the payroll schedule, which will be emailed to you after you start your internship.
Q: Where do I log my hours?
A: Clockify. Use clockify.me or download the mobile app. You must use the invitation sent by INTERalliance in order to be appropriately configured.
Q: Do I have to use Clockify?
Q: Do I have to use the invitation that INTERalliance sent me for Clockify?
A: Yes, it is the email address that we used to attach you to the INTERalliance projects. You must use this in order for Central Office to see the hours you are logging.
Q: I don’t like that email address. Can I change it?
A: Yes, you need to contact Central.Office@interalliance.org to request a new invitation. If you’ve already created a new account and have used it to log hours, you will be required to reenter them.
Q: When do hours need to be logged?
A: Hours need to be logged by 5pm on Friday. Any hours worked after that deadline will not be paid.
Q: Does anyone approve or review my logged hours?
A: Yes, the supervisor that you are working with will review your hours each week. This is why it is critical to get them submitted by 5pm on Friday.
Q: How should I round my hours?
A: Round your hours to the nearest 30 minute increments.
